Kelsey Vala is a pie baker, chef, food writer, and small business-owner with a serious love for bringing people together with food. She studied The Politics of Food at New York University. She relocated to pursue a culinary degree at Le Cordon Bleu in Portland, Oregon. After culinary school, she moved to Nebraska (her home state) to bring her skills back to her family business, Vala’s Pumpkin Patch. In addition to running the Pie Barn and working on future development, Kelsey has researched and tackled topics facing their growing business, such as employee engagement, training and cultural succession.
